What Is Sculptra?
Sculptra differs from other dermal fillers because it’s injected at a deeper layer than other fillers to trigger new collagen production with long-lasting results. Most fillers, such as Belotero® and Restylane® products, are gels containing hyaluronic acid that contour facial features by restoring volume and hydrating the skin. Sculptra takes a different approach. Its main component is poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a biocompatible substance that works gradually to trigger the production of new collagen.
This collagen regeneration is particularly beneficial from our 30s onward, when natural collagen production begins to decline significantly—by about 1% per year1. Sculptra also requires a bit of patience because it works gradually, producing subtle and natural-looking results that appear gradually over several weeks to months, and can last 2 years or more2.
