At deRMA Skin Institute in Guelph and Burlington, ON, we offer a variety of dermal fillers to help lift and plump skin to improve your appearance. We are proud to offer the Restylane® family of gel dermal fillers to help you look and feel your best. Whether you are looking to fill facial lines, lift cheeks, or plump your lips, we can customize a treatment to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.
What is Restylane®?
Restylane is a gel-based injectable dermal filler that can effectively smooth wrinkles and fill facial lines, lift cheeks, and restore lost volume in cheekss. Restylane was one the first dermal fillers brands to be widely used and is a patient favourite for its unique ability to fill and smooth with natural-looking, long-lasting results so you can smile and move your face without it ever looking “done.”
What does Restylane® treat?
Our skilled injectors use Restylane fillers to smooth lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth, contour and shape cheeks, fill in hollows in the back of hands, precise shaping and sculpting of the chin and jawline, and address undereye hollows or tear troughs. Each filler has a unique gel formula with a distinct composition to treat different areas; thinner gels may be used for more delicate areas and thicker gels with enhanced crosslinking, strength, and stability allow for filling and lifting on more dense areas like the chin and jaw.
How does Restylane® work?
During your consultation, your provider will perform an assessment of your face and ask questions to understand your aesthetic goals. All grades of the Restylane gel fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally occurring in our skin to support hydration and helps add volume to plump and smooth skin. HA declines in our skin, starting in our mid twenties. It’s the same substance used in JUVÉDERM and other HA fillers to create subtle results that highlight your best features. Restylane’s injectable formula allows the filler to move and stretch as you move your face, allowing you a full range of expressions without any stiffness or fear of looking unnatural.
Why Choose Derma Skin Institute for Restylane®?
Even though dermal filler injections are common, your results will only be as great as the injector performing them. At our clinic, you will always be assessed by a board-certified dermatologist and injectable expert. We pride ourselves on creating personalized and customized treatments. That includes combining Restylane with other aesthetic procedures like BOTOX® Cosmetic, as part of Dr. Sajic’s unique 5 Dimensions Skin Plan™ to consider the whole face instead of “quick fix” approaches that miss the way your features affect each other. Our providers customize doses and inject with precision using a conservative approach that prevents the “frozen” appearance often produced by inexperienced injectors.
You can expect:
- Personalized treatments customized to your skin type, goals, unique features, and concerns.
- A legacy of expertise, gallery of real patient Before and After Results, and skin wisdom to craft a beautiful result.

“This was my second visit to deRMA Skin Institute and the experience was just as great as the first one. The staff are very friendly and professional. They make you feel welcome and answered all my questions. They took the time to explain what they were going to be doing at each step during the appointment. Prior to the appointment, they provided lots of reminders about the upcoming appointment. Great service. FAQs
How long do Restylane® results last?
Results from Restylane are visible immediately, and can last up to 8-12 months . The lasting time of your results depends on the volume of fillers used, the size of the targeted area, and your unique facial anatomy. As your movements change with time, your treatment plan and dosing may also need to change. Your face is uniquely yours and your treatment plan should be too!
Does Restylane® hurt?
Most patients tolerate filler injections quite well. We use numbing cream as well as a local anaesthetic to help keep you comfortable. Additionally, an anaesthetic is pre-mixed with most fillers. If needed, we may also medicate you with prescription-strength pain medicine. We also have Penthrox® as an option—an effective, fast-acting, non-opioid inhaled analgesic product that helps greatly with pain and anxiety.
Will it be obvious that I’ve had Restylane®?
Dr. Sajic’s mantra is: “If it looks done—it’s been done wrong.” In the same way that you notice when people have overdone dermal filler results, you likely know many people who have had injectable treatments; but the best results are a well kept secret between the injector and the patient. The patients who have chosen a skilled, experienced injector know that subtle results are key. Dr. Sajic practices the 5-Dimension Skin Plan™, an innovative, science-based approach that considers the whole face instead of “quick fix” approaches that miss the way your features affect each other. This allows us to treat the whole face to maximize symmetry, subtle results, and a balanced outcome for a fresh, more youthful appearance.
What is Restylane® recovery like?
We will give you post-treatment instructions on how to best care for your skin after the procedure. Generally, this is well tolerated though there may be bruising or swelling following treatment that should subside within a week. We also offer medical laser treatments at our Guelph clinic that can significantly decrease bruising. Avoid massaging your face and generally avoid heavy exercise for the first 48 hours after treatment to maximize beautiful results and reduce any inflammation.
What does the Restylane® treatment feel like?
We prioritize comfort, safety, and a pleasant experience for all of our patients from consultation through to beautiful results. We find that most patients tolerate filler injections quite well. We use numbing cream as well as a local anaesthetic to help keep you comfortable. All Restylane fillers contain lidocaine, an anaesthetic designed to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Your provider will use a cannula or micro-cannula, a blunt-tipped needle-like device to inject the filler into your skin and lips, minimizing the possibility of bruising and discomfort.
Can I combine Restylane® with other treatments?
Yes. Using different injectable treatments in intentional, artful combinations is one element of Dr. Sajic’s 5 Dimension Skin Plan™ — you can learn more about that here. We may customize a treatment plan that targets multiple concerns in one treatment regimen or procedure. Depending on your needs, your provider can treat multiple areas of the face and hands at the same time. Restylane fillers can be combined with other dermal fillers like JUVÉDERM, Sculptra®, Radiesse®, and cosmetic treatments like BOTOX®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®.
Is there downtime needed after Restylane® treatment?
No, non-invasive injectable dermal fillers don’t require booking time off and can be easily scheduled as part of a normal day. You may notice some minor bruising following treatment which can be gently camouflaged with foundation or powder and should subside within a few days following treatment.
