Laser treatments, which are paid for out-of-pocket by patients, are another option for dealing with stubborn symptoms of rosacea. While these can be very effective, it is important to remember that they too are not a cure, and that It might take multiple treatments with the laser in order to see improvement. While in most cases you will see excellent improvement of the redness that lasts for years, regular maintenance therapy can delay the relapse.
Rosacea is a skin condition that causes inflammation in most patients. For this reason we may recommend a topical anti-inflammatory prescription medication that can be rubbed right onto the affected area, putting the medicine directly onto the problem.
Prescription Medications like Onreltea can be applied to your face as needed. The results are temprarry and last 8-12 hours. We generally don’t recommend using more than a few times / month as it may lead to a rebound in redness.
Non prescription topical treatments like Phytogel and Redness Solution complex can offer a milder reduction that can be applied daily without the worry of a rebound.
Avoid Washing your face
For those dealing with more severe rosacea, oral medications may need to be considered. These medications are typically taken daily until the flare is brought under control. While they are generally very safe, like all medications, there are potential side-effects that need to be monitored for and brought up to your team at Derma skin institute. Common oral medications include doxycycline, minocycline, Accutane and tetracycline.
Many patients choose to use chemical peels in their treatment efforts for rosacea. Chemical peels are only applied to the skin every two to four weeks based on the severity. The most common type of chemical peel used in rosacea is a clinical strength Salicylic Acid. Similar to a topical form of Aspirin – it is chiefly used to reduce the inflammation brought on by the rosacea. In addition it helps condition the skin and remove the dead layers of skin. Full face micro-botox has an excellent result in many patients not responding to other treatments. It works by suppressing the neruo-vascular component of the rosacea process.
During your session of Micro-botox, we will use a very fine needle to inject a neuromodulator such as Botox, Dysport or xeomin into various strategic locations of your face. In contrast to regular botox treatments this method involves placing botox very superficially so that it does not affect the muscles involved in the movement of the face. This means the procedure will result in reduction of redness as well as superficial fine lines, wrinkles, pore size, and oil glands without you having to worry about looking unnatural or frozen.
